  • Our committee uses a website and other social media platforms to communicate events, classes, and interact with students, faculty, and staff at NU and Planetree.
  • Our newest platform, BlackBoard, will provide a central location for students to view meeting minutes, communicate through discussion and message boards, and stay up-to-date with current committee activities.
  • Our committee promotes a Gratitude Campaign to foster communication and thankfulness between students, staff, and faculty at the university.
Create and utilize professional website and social media platforms as a communication strategy.

Synthesize connections among experiences outside of the formal classroom - including life experiences, co-curricular, and academic experiences such as internships and travel aboard - to deepen understanding of fields of study and to broaden own points of view.

  • Our committee participated in the 2018 Planetree International Conference in Boston, MA. 12 students participated by attending and volunteering at breakout sessions over a 3-day conference period, and most importantly, contributed to overall Planetree knowledge by presenting a poster about our committee’s origin, successes, struggles, areas to improve upon, and visions for our future.
  • Our committee hosts ongoing Ask an Alumni and Ask a Student events to nurture relationships and foster discussion between alumni and current SHHS students.

Evaluate and apply diverse perspectives to complex topics to demonstrate an empathetic understanding of multiple worldviews and cultures.

  • Our interdisciplinary committee consists of students from diverse programs within the school of health and human services such as Nursing, Public Health, Allied Health, Health Informatics and more! We listen to and recognize what is important to these student populations and apply the knowledge, experience and expertise from many of these areas to ensure that all SHHS students have a voice in their education.
  • We value the incorporation of Planetree’s criteria for all students. Find them in detail here. A brief summary of the tenets include:
    • Creating organizational structures that promote engagement
    • Connect values, strategies and action
    • Implement practices that promote partnership
    • Know what matters!
    • Use evidence to drive improvement
