Duties of The Officers of Planetree Student Committee.

Chair:
The Chair leads the Student Committee with the assistance of the Co-Chair. The responsibilities are to:
  • Ensure the vision and mission are updated and adhered to,
  • Be the contact person for half of the sub-committees Officers,
  • Update the constitutional and ensures compliance,
  • Oversee training,
  • Sits on committees at NU and in the community, 
  • Represent students on Sharp Coronado’s Patient Centered Design Team, 
  • Run committee meetings.
  • Be the contact point for the Planetree Conference.

Co-Chair
The Co-Chair assists the Chair in successful running of the committee. The responsibilities are to:
  • Be the contact person for half of the sub-committee Officers and uses prudent judgement when forwarding issues to the Chair,
  • Fill in for the Chair when they are unable to make it,
  • Advise the Chair in matters of the committee,
  • Lead meetings in the Chair’s absence,
  • Represent the committee at meetings and other events.

Administrative Officer
The Administrative Officer is fundamental in the successful operation of the Committee. The responsibilities are to:
  • Send out email for Nomination for Appreciate and award gift card to winner 
  • Serve as main point of contact for anyone interested in joining NUPSC
  • Add new members on to
    • Excel spreadsheet
    • Blackboard
    • MailChimp
  • Add new Officers to    
    • Facebook Admin
    • Blackboard Leader
  • Create Doodle poll for council meetings
  • Pick a date/time from majority vote of doodle poll, and inform council of the set date/time
  • Send out Google event invite to council
  • Email Faculty for what they’d like added onto the council agenda
  • Send out reminder email 1 week before COUNCIL meeting to all OFFICERS and advisors
  • Send out reminder email to all MEMBERS reminding them of COMMITTEE meeting need to add members to Google Calendar invite as they join planetree
  • Take notes during both council and committee meetings
  • Add the notes onto the agenda, and then send out the agenda/minutes to all members
    • Send out to officers for approval of minutes (“yay” or “nay” email)
  • Inform officers of members who want to join their committee
  • Send calendar invite to all members 1 week before committee and council meeting
  • Send appreciation nomination email 1 week before council meeting to all officers


Financial Officer
The Financial Officer is the liaison between the Committee’s funds, financial accounts, members, and officers. The responsibilities are to: 

  • Manage and recording incoming and outcoming financial resources
  • Update the committee and council on the financial status of planetree
  • Help officers receive reimbursement from the student account via a completed requisition form, w9 form and receipts from purchases
  • Assist in fundraisers

Activities Officer:
The Activities Officer is the person that gives life to the committee. The responsibilities are to:
  • Organize monthly socials:
    • Event is planned 3 weeks in advance to event 
    • Email MComm to make flyers 
    • Distribute flyers to promote event in person and Facebook
  • Partner with other committees and organizations to form joint events including:
    • NUSNA for Nurses’s Week: 
      • Nurse’s Week (First full week of May)
      • Holiday Cheer (First weeks of December)
    • Public Health Students:
      • Wellness Event (Early April)
    • OmegaNU/Culture Matters
      • Culture Matters events (3rd Thursday of each month at 2:30)
  • Make committee life fun.

Fundraising Officer
The Fundraising Officer provides the lifeblood of the Committee so that we have funds to carry out our activities, marketing, and events. The responsibilities are to:
  • Organize
    • Plan fundraising activities for the committee (sales, off-site, donations)
    • Develop merchandise for NUPSC & obtain approval (Bonfire campaigns/ Etsy designs)
    • Facilitate purchase and distribution of NUPSC graduation regalia
  • Coordinate
    • Work with ancillary staff such as NU Clubs, NU campus directors and conference services to obtain approval for the solicitation of organized fundraising events.
  • Communicate
    • Communicate with Council members
      • Mcomm
        • Request help for designing flyers for planned events while providing all necessary details for the event (Date, time, location, prices if applicable
      • Financial
        • Submit check requisition forms for reimbursement or fund requests
        • Submit deposit form and funds allocated from fundraising events
      • Administration
        • Coordinate requirements for active members and graduation regalia eligibility.

Wellness and Support Officer
The Wellness and Support Officer is a unique position to Planetree and is meant to embody the wholesome care of the members. The responsibilities are to:
  • Provide positive messages to NUPSC members,
  • Connect members in need with available resources such as
    • NU Wellness Center
    • Library Services
    • Community services to assist with housing, and wellbeing.
  • Improve the ambiance of NU,
  • Provide information on wellness projects relating to 
    • Volunteerism, 
    • Legislation,
    • Initiatives
  • Strive to listen to others at NU to find ways to improve the environment and experience
  • Get members involved in physical and mental activities.

Student Rep Officer
The Student Rep Officer is the face of the students to the community. The responsibilities are to:
  • Provide students with opportunities to volunteer outside of the academic setting,
  • Serve as a liaison between students and university partners,
    • Catholic Charities
    • Sharp Hospital
  • Act as a communication channel between staff, students and the university
    • Center of Excellence

Membership Officer
The Membership Officer is the link between the officers, members, and potential members. The responsibilities are to:
  • Represent the Planetree Student Committee by
    • Communicating our vision and mission,
    • Assisting members to understand the pathways and benefits of the committee
    • Getting members involved who wish to be.
  • Represent the Planetree Student Committee to
    • Oncoming Nursing Cohorts
    • Classes outside of Nursing
  • Using available resources to represent the Committee
  • Fostering relationships with new members and guiding them with information
  • Assigning new members to an Officer, or subcommittee member to be the point of contact and to mentor them along their way.

Communications Officer
The Media and Communications Officer manages all media and outward facing communications for the committee. The responsibilities are to
  • Promote events and fundraising,
    • Post items on Facebook and other Social Media Platforms
    • Post items on Blackboard
  • Creating digital and print communications.
    • Newsletter,
    • Flyers,
    • Branding material,
    • Bulletin boards
  • Act as liaison to NU’s Marketing department.​
